Chest & Abdomen

Imaging Expert

Made with licensed FDA-cleared imaging software using actual patient CT scans

Expert.

Radiologists are medical doctors who coordinate and interpret medical imaging such as CT (or CAT) scans, MRI, x-rays, ultrasounds, and nuclear medicine imaging. We are trained in the human body from head-to-toe, elderly to newborns, mammograms to brain MRI to foot x-rays to liver CT.

Whereas most radiology expert witnesses claim expertise of the entire human body, 100% of my clinical practice and expert witness work is dedicated to imaging the chest, abdomen, and pelvis. This has allowed me to become a true expert in the diseases, infections, cancers, and trauma affecting the torso.

Experienced in testifying in malpractice and criminal cases, including jury trial testimony; your case will come to life with my designed image-rich trial demonstratives and 3D printing. With a background in education, I have successfully educated jury on relevant imaging findings with an ability to explain complex disease processes in simple relatable terms to the lay-person.

Examples of conditions or diseases that fall under my expertise are detailed here.

Clinician.

Board-certified in Diagnostic-Radiology, I also have subspecialty fellowship training in both Body Imaging and Emergency Radiology. Please review my CV.

The overwhelming majority of my time is spent not as an expert witness, but as a clinician. I’m full-time academic radiologist in one of the largest academic Emergency Radiology divisions in the country (UPMC/Univ. of Pittsburgh School of Medicine); where we cover 15 UPMC-affiliated hospital ER’s across Western Pennsylvania, including 2 level-one and 2 level-two trauma centers, and 6 certified stroke centers.

My particular interest is “incidentalomas” or incidental findings found while imaging for another purpose, such as lung nodules and colon masses.

Educator.

With an academic appointment in the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Radiology, I am responsible for teaching the radiologists of tomorrow. Side-by-side, I teach radiology residents the subtleties of chest and abdominal imaging. In each of the past six years ('18-'23), I was awarded a UPMC Department of Radiology Excellence in Teaching Award, voted on by the resident-physicians.
